Notorious criminal killed in UP

Kanpur, Jan 31 (PTI) A notorious criminal carrying areward of Rs 50,000 on his head was today killed in a policeencounter at Sabalpur village here, officials said.

Shanu, in his thirties, was killed in the encounter witha Special Task Force team after they chased the car in whichhe was travelling with two other associates, SP Mohit Guptasaid.

On seeing the police, the trio fired at them and in theretaliatory action Shanu was killed while his accomplicesmanaged to escape, he said.

A pistol was recovered from the deceased while his carhas been confiscated.

Shanu had more than 14 cases of kidnapping, drugtrafficking, murder and loot registered against him, he added.
