Modi appoints 8 party leaders to state boards and corporations

Ahmedabad, Jan 25 (PTI) Gujarat chief ministerNarendra Modi today announced political appointments in eightboards and corporations of the state, the first time after hebecame the chief minister in 2001.

The appointees include Bhupendrasinh Chudasama asvice-president of Gujarat State Planning Commission, VallabhKathiriya as Chairman of Gujarat Gau Seva Aayog and JayantiBarot as chairman of Gujarat Housing Board.

Kaushik Patel has been appointed as Acting chairman of20-Point Implementation Committee, Mahendra Trivedi aschairman of Gujarat Pavitra Yatradham Vikas Board and MansukhMandaviya as chairman of Gujarat Agriculture IndustriesCorporation.

Purshottam Bhojani has been appointed as chairman ofJamnagar Urban Development Authority and Punambhai Makwana hasbeen appointed chairman of Bechar Swami Ati Pachhat Jati VikasBoard.

It may be noted that Modi is Chairman of Gujarat StatePlanning Commission and 20-Point Implementation Committee.

Untill now, Modi had appointed only a couple ofloyalist to such posts.

BJP workers had put the demand -- that party workersbe appointed to state boards and corporations -- before thestate in-charge Balbir Punj, who later took up the issue withModi. PTI PD KRK
