Goa governor gives time to 2 NCP MLAs to present their say

Panaji, Jan 25 (PTI) Goa legislative assembly speakerPratapsingh Rane today granted time to the two NationalistCongress Party (NCP) legislators to submit their say on thehouse leadership issue.

Two of the three NCP legislators in Goa assembly � JosePhilip D�Souza and Nilkant Halarnkar -- had asked for fourweeks'' time to submit their statements.

Rane told PTI today that he will not grant four weeks,but the two MLAs will certainly get some time.

"I believe in justice and I will work within theframework of the assembly rules," he said.

While two legislators sought time, third one � FransiscoPacheco -- submitted his say giving documents, which includeletter by NCP high command announcing him as a legislatureparty president and a whip.

Rane heard all the three legislators on Monday on theissue.

NCP high command, in a letter to Speaker, had declaredthat Pacheco had been made NCP legislative party wingpresident and whip in the state, replacing D�Souza andHalarnkar.

But D''Souza and Halarnkar do not want to quit the posts.
