Kargil courier resumes service
Srinagar, Jan 19 (PTI) The Kargil courier air serviceresumed today after remaining suspended for over a fortnightdue to bad weather with 248 stranding passengers airlifted intwo sorties from Srinagar and Jammu.
"The air force AN-32 Kargil Courier Service resumedoperations and 71 passengers were airlifted from Kargil toSrinagar and 36 from Kargil to Jammu," an official spokesmansaid.
He said 86 passengers were airlifted from Srinagar toKargil and 55 passengers from Jammu to Kargil.
The Kargil courier service, which usually makes threesorties between Srinagar and Kargil and one sortie betweenJammu and Kargil in a week, operated last time on January 3.
It could not operate over the past fortnight due toinclement weather conditions leaving many passengers strandedat Jammu, Kargil and Srinagar.
