Youth held for raping neighbour

New Delhi, Jan 13 (PTI) A 21-year-old man working in atransport company was arrested for allegedly raping a teenagedneighbour, police said today.

Irfan was apprehended from Faridabad-Gurgaon Highway whenhe was trying to escape to Rajasthan in a truck to evadearrest, a senior police official said.

The 13-year-old girl was raped allegedly by Irfan, herneighbour in south Delhi''s Fatehpuri Beri, on January 11.

"Irfan dragged her into his room and sexually assaultedher. When she tried to raise an alarm, the accused threatenedher of dire consequences. He fled after the rape," theofficial said.

"Fifteen km of area was cordoned off. After 17 hours ofchase and committed efforts, the accused was finally nabbedfrom the outskirts of the capital," he said.

"He has a disturbed family background and had tried tomolest two women of the same village in the past but due tothe intervention of the village elders, the matter was notreported to the police," police claimed.

Irfan works as an assistant in a transport company inManesar in Haryana.
