Cong leader criticises MP govt for farmers'' suicides
Bhopal, Jan 14 (PTI) Criticising the recent suicides byfarmers in Madhya Pradesh, senior Congress leader and MLA AjaySingh today said it is a matter of shame for the ruling BJP inthe state.
"The BJP came to power in the 2003 assembly elections bymaking many promises which included bettering the lot of thefarmers...Because of the assurances, the farmers'' expectationshad gone up and when these were not fulfilled, they tookrecourse to suicide," he said here.
The saddest part is most of the suicides had taken placein Damoh, the home district of state agriculture minister RamKrishna Kusumuria, Singh said.
He said the BJP government often claimed that villages inMadhya Pradesh is getting electricity for 18 hours a day.
"However, every person knows that no village in the stategets more than seven hours of electricity supply," he said.
