NCP hits back at Rahul Gandhi over price rise issue

New Delhi, Jan 12 (ANI): Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Tariq Anwar on Wednesday slammed Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi for blaming the coalition set-up for the government's inability to control skyrocketing prices.

"Congress must understand ground reality. It is a collective responsibility and it is not fair to blame one person," he told reporters here.

"Congress should not make such statements particularly after its recent colossal defeat in Bihar," he added.

He said: "When the question of price rise comes, the Prime Minister called for all ministers meeting yesterday, where veryone was present. Finance Minister, Home Minister, Agriculture Minister. So the onus comes onto the entire overnment, and government as a whole is taking it very seriously."

Rahul Gandhi had sparked off a controversy by blaming coalition politics for the UPA Government's failure to fight inflation.

His comments came during his interaction with students in Lucknow.

When asked why the government was unable to check prices and corruption like his grandmother Indira Gandhi did, Rahul replied, "It was a single party government then (during Indira Gandhi's prime ministership) while today it is a coalition and so has some compulsions." (ANI)
