Snowy foggy weather causes plane crash; 72 dead

Tehran, Jan 10: Following a snowy and foggy weather, an Iranian airplane carrying more than 100 passengers tried to make an emergency landing. Unfortunately, the plane crashed and more than 70 people are reportedly dead on Jan 9. Death toll was likely to rise.

The Boeing 727 aircraft, which was moving from Tehran to the city of Urumiyeh, tried to land on farmland near Lake Orumiyeh.

Media report stated that the aircraft broke into several pieces on impact but did not explode.

A number of passengers were reportedly able to escape from the wreckage unharmed.

Rescue operation has been started but heavy snow and bad weather reportedly hampered the rescue efforts.
