CES 2011: Dell reveals Streak 7 tablet

Las Vegas, Jan 7: One thing is clear. The ongoing Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2011 will be remembered for the variety of tablets presented by different manufactures. Earlier, Motorola showcased their Android Honeycomb tablet

and

running on Honeycomb. And now it's the turn of Dell, the US based manufacturer famous for its laptop and desktops.

Earlier we have reported Dell's plan to launch a 7-inch tablet, which was regarded as the iPad Killer. And now it turned true. On the second day of CES, Dell has unveiled its latest 7-inch tablet, Dell Streak, which runs on Google Android 2.2 Froyo (is it outdated?).

Earlier Dell launched Streak tablet with 5-inch screen which runs on Google Android 1.6 mobile OS. Now, Dell has made it more enhanced with Froyo and a Dual- core 1Ghz NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor. The new Dell Streak 7 is 4G powered and offers Gorilla Glass technology.

The massive 7-inch display also supports 800x480 pixel resolution (what happened to dell? Samsung Galaxy Tab offers 1024x600 pixel resolution). It is expected that the new tablet will get Gingerbread or Honeycomb update. Users can access to Android Market to download latest applications.

Dell Streak 7 boasts dual cameras, 5 MP at rear and a 1.3 MP at front for video calling. Other features include 16 GB internal memory which can be extended upto 32 GB using micro SD cards.

The new Dell Streak 7 will be available through T-Mobile in United States. Dell has not announced the price of Streak 7. Anyhow, Dell sells Streak 5 in India at Rs 35,000. So it will be above Rs 40,000. The availability and actual price in international market has not announced. Stay tuned for more updates.
