Alagiri's resignation: A sham?

MK Alagiri
Chennai, Jan 6: Many started praising DMK chief Karunanidhi's son and Chemicals and Fertilizers Minister MK Alagiri over his decision to resign from his position as Union Minister and the organising secretary of DMK and many were worried over the supposed ripple in DMK over the decision.

But source close to Alagiri, on the condition of anonymity, informed that speculation about Alagiri's resignation is not true. The source stated that Alagiri has not quit the central government over reported differences within Tamil Nadu's ruling DMK over the 2G spectrum scandal.

Earlier media reports shook the Tamil Nadu government over the news that Alagiri submitted his resignation from cabinet.

Both Alagiri and DMK were not ready to comment on the issue, however, another close source to the party informed, "Both (resignation and ripple) didn't happen."

Sources also informed that the news about tension in Karunanidhi's family over former telecom minister and DMK leader A Raja (alleged role in 2G spectrum scam) was also baseless.
