Alagiri throws tantrum over 2G scam

New Delhi, Jan 5: All's not well in the DMK family inspite of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Karunanidhi renewing estranged ties with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Jan 3. This time trouble seem to be coming in from within the party with the DMK Chief Karunandhi's son Alagiri threatening to quit as Union minister and DMK office bearer.

Alagiri expressed his displeasure on the way the 2G spectrum scam is probed and the way DMK is providing unconditional support to tainted Ex-Telecom minister A Raja.

He is also irked by the references made on him by his sister Kanimozhi and the state IT Minister Poongothai on the Radia tapes. He has apparently snubbed his father, Karunanidhi by skipping the party meeting, making the displeasure evident.

Rumours are rife that he is throwing his weight to bargain for a bigger role in the party affairs. The issue gains prominence especially when Tamil Nadu is gearing for Assembly elections later this year.
