Brit-Indian honeymooner Dewani 'cleared' of role in 2nd person's murder in 2007
Cape Town, Dec 31 (ANI): Shrien Dewani, the Brit-Indian millionaire accused of conspiring to murder his wife Anni during their honeymoon in Cape Town, has been 'cleared' of allegations that he murdered a second person in South Africa by the private investigator hired to re-examine the case.
According to the Daily Mail, Christian Botha has turned down claims by the South African police that Dewani was involved in killing the his family friend Dr Pox Raghavjee in 2007, adding that he has established a clear motive for Dr Pox's murder that has got 'nothing to do with' Dewani.
"But I can tell you that Dr Pox was killed because he was about to expose some criminal activity. He stumbled upon something and was about to report it. It was something very close to home. But it was nothing to do with his wife and nothing to do with Shrien Dewani," he added.
Known as 'Dr Pox', the 63-year-old GP was shot with a single bullet behind the left ear after his car was hijacked as he drove to work.
Earlier this month, Dewani's publicist Max Clifford dismissed the possibility his client was implicated in either murder. He also said that the doctor's widow, Heather Raghavjee, had travelled from King's William Town to Cape Town to comfort Dewani after the murder.
However he said they had never previously met and the widow had made the journey at the request of her daughter-in-law, Alvita Raghavjee, who lives in the Bristol area and knows the Dewani family.
Dewani, 30, was released from Wandsworth prison on bail earlier this month after his family came up with 250,000 pounds security over his wife's murder charges. (ANI)
