References to Pakistan in Indo-Russia statement "unwarranted, unacceptable": Pak FO
Islamabad, Dec 24 (ANI): Islamabad has taken strong exception to the Indo-Russia joint statement, terming the references to Pakistan "unwarranted and unacceptable".
Pakistan's Foreign Ministry released a statement, commenting on the joint statement issued in New Delhi that urged Pakistan to expedite punishing of those responsible for the Mumbai terror attacks, and eliminate terrorist safe havens existing on its soil.
"We have noted the references to Pakistan in the Indo-Russia Joint Statement issued in New Delhi. These are unwarranted and unacceptable," said the Foreign Office statement.
"Pakistan's views have been clearly conveyed to the Russian government," it added.
It is noteworthy that the Indo-Russia joint statement had "called upon Pakistan to expeditiously bring all the perpetrators, authors and accomplices of the November 2008 Mumbai attacks to justice."
On the topic of "stabilising the Afghan situation", India and Russia had "expressed concern at the deteriorating security situation in Afghanistan, where successful stabilization will be possible only after the elimination of safe havens and infrastructure for terrorism and violent extremism that are present in Afghanistan and Pakistan."
