Gay, straight - all are welcomed in US army: Obama

Now, all gay men and women can take a heave a sigh of relief as US President Barack Obama, as he promised during his campaign in 2008, signed the law to lift the ban on gay from serving openly in the armed services.
"I say to all Americans, gay or straight, who want nothing more than to defend this country in uniform," Stated Obama on Dec 22 after signing the ladmark law.
".. your country needs you, your country wants you, and we will be honoured to welcome you into the ranks of the finest military the world has ever known," he added.
