Bone find may end mystery of Amelia Earhart's disappearance

London, Dec 14 (ANI): A tiny bone fragment discovered on a desert island may finally answer the questions surrounding legendary woman aviator Amelia Earhart's disappearance.

It could prove that Earhart, lived as a castaway instead of dying when her plane crashed into the Pacific Ocean, reports the Sun.

The bone, which is apparently a part of her finger, was discovered on the tiny south Pacific atoll of Nikumaroro.

Among other finds were pieces of a pocketknife, make-up from a woman's compact and old American bottles.

Experts have suggested that Earhart, who disappeared in 1937 on a round-the-world flight, was probably marooned there with her navigator Fred Noonan.

Scientists are hoping to obtain DNA from the bone to prove it came from Earhart. (ANI)
