Brit MP publicly broadcasts swear word 'c'

London, Dec 07 (ANI): Policing minister Nick Herbert has become the third high-profile figure to publicly broadcast the swear word beginning with 'c'.

Herbert intended to say the word "cuts" in the House of Commons. Instead, he used a four-letter expletive beginning and ending in the same letters, reports Sky News.

Amid gales of laughter, Speaker John Bercow insisted other MPs' hearing was "playing tricks with them" and they "didn't hear what they thought they heard".

Herbert's mistake came shortly after two prominent BBC broadcasters used the same word. Radio 4 Today presenter Jim Naughtie misspoke when he tried to introduce the Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt.

Later, Andrew Marr was discussing his colleague's gaffe and the nature of Freudian slips when he repeated the same mispronunciation of Hunt's name.

Marr even said, "We're not going to repeat [Mr Naughtie's mistake] in quite the terms it happened," before going on to accidentally do just that.

But Hunt took it in good humour.

"They say prepare for anything before going on Today but that took the biscuit," he wrote on Twitter.

"I was laughing as much as you Jim or should I say Dr Spooner," he added, in a reference to the man who gave rise to the term "spoonerism". (ANI)
