Spitting Image puppets of Lady Thatcher and her Cabinet up for grabs

London, Dec 3 (ANI): Puppets of former UK Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and her Cabinet, from British show Spitting Image, are to be auctioned off later this month in a special sale of TV memorabilia.

Pride of place in the Bonhams sale goes to the Iron Lady and her late husband Sir Denis Thatcher, and the couple are expected to go for as much as 3,000 pounds.

Spitting Image ran from 1984 to 1996 and after the series ended the puppets were sold off by Roger Law, who along with Peter Fluck created the hit show for ITV.

"These are all production pieces from the TV series," the Daily Express quoted Stephen Maycock, of Bonhams, as saying.

"Some are quite accurate but others are quite cruel. They were hard to operate because actors had their arms in the puppets' arms and others worked the eyes and mouth," he stated.

Among the latex characters expected to fetch up to 800 pounds each are Tory peer Lord Tebbit as a leather-clad bovver boy and former Chancellor Norman Lamont dressed as a wartime spiv. (ANI)
