Bihar polls: Last phase starts; mine blast in Gaya

Gaya, Nov 20: Amid security and poll boycott call from Maoists, the sixth and last phase of Bihar Assembly election in 26 constituencies has started on Saturday, Nov 20.

Medai reported that Maoists had triggered a land mine in Gaya district, injuring a Jawan. The final phase includes 18 Maoist-affected areas, spread across five districts.

The polling in 18 Maoist-affected areas will end by 3.00 pm instead of normal 5.00 pm.

During the final phase, 426 candidates seek their fate from more than six million eligible voters in districts of Gaya, Aurangabad, Rohtas, Kaimur and Buxar.

The earlier five phases ended peacefully except some incidents of violence. The counting of the votes will start on Wednesday, Nov 24.
