But when Jayalalithaa's "unconditional" support offer came for UPA, DMK forced to rethink about Raja. Meanwhile, BJP focused more on Prime Minister Manmohan Sigh and Sonia Gandhi for their silence in 2G scam. Hence, it became a prestige issue for Congress.
Later, Chidambaram periled DMK by saying the alliance during the Assembly elections. This time DMK understood that sacking Raja would be better than facing Congress-AIADMK alliance during Assembly elections.
