Pak won't allow terrorists to use its soil for spreading extremism, says Zardari
Islamabad, Nov 8 (ANI): Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari has vowed that Islamabad would never allow a handful of terrorists and extremists to forcefully impose their extremist ideological agenda on the people, adding that his government would not let Pakistani soil be used as a breeding ground by terrorists against any country.
According to the Daily Times, Zardari stated that 'blame games' will not serve the cause of the war against militancy, and urged the international community to understand and appreciate Pakistan's determination to fight terrorism.
The president made these remarks while addressing the fourth national conference of the South Asian Free Media Association titled "Setting a National Agenda on Media, Democracy and Good Governance" at the Presidency.
He further said that Pakistan stood for peace in the region and the world and wanted early resumption of the composite dialogue process with India.
"The civil government went out of its way in its peace overtures towards India. It would have been most helpful if our initiatives had been welcomed and responded to in a positive manner," the paper quoted the President, as saying.
"The Mumbai attack has undermined efforts for peace. Pakistan is cooperating in unearthing and bringing to justice the perpetrators of militant acts," he said, adding that the government wanted to implement the deceased former President Benazir Bhutto's vision of a peaceful South Asia through economic integration.
Pakistan has been facing the challenge of militancy from the very outset but the country has came out in the open against militants and took them head on, he added. (ANI)
