MPs told to behave themselves during Obama address
In the advisory sent out by the ministry to leaders of parliamentary parties, MPs have been told to behave in a dignified manner during the US President's address, scheduled for 5:30 pm on Monday, Nov 8.
Obama will address the two Houses of Parliament's joint sitting in the Central Hall of Parliament House.
Speaker of the lower house, Meira Kumar, however, has refused to issue an advisory on these lines.
"I respect my MPs and their judgment about how to conduct themselves," she is quoted as saying in a newspaper report.
After predecessors Dwight Eisenhower in 1959, Jimmy Carter in 1978 and Bill Clinton in 2000, Obama will be the fourth US President to address Indian Parliament.
