Oz Muslim school director found guilty of million-dollar fund grant fraud
Perth, Oct 28(ANI): The director of a Muslim school in Australia has been found guilty of falsifying student numbers to fraudulently obtain 1.125 million dollars in government grants.
According to News.co.au, Anwar Sayed was accused of falsifying student numbers at the Muslim Ladies College of Australia in Perth.
The 50-year-old is the Director of Muslim Link Australia, which runs the school.
The District Court in Perth heard that Sayed signed a declaration that over 180 students were enrolled in the school in the 2006/07 census year, when there were 80 to 100 fewer than that.
The school had received about 961,000 dollars from the federal government and about 164,000 dollars from the state government.
A jury found Sayed guilty on two counts of fraud. (ANI)
