Reform govt, economic sectors: Obama to Zardari

Washington, Oct 27: Days after the US-Pak strategic dialogue, President Barack Obama conveyed to his Pakistani counterpart Asif Ali Zardari to reform governance, country's economic sectors like tax reform and energy subsidies.

Sources said Obama emphasised US' commitment and support for democracy and transparency in Pakistan, highlighting Washington and Islamabad share an interest in ensuring democratic traditions in Pakistan are strengthened.

While referring to terrorists' threat in Pakistan, Obama said Islamabad need to focus more on eliminating them from its soil. He asserted that US would extend full cooperation in tackling them.

Sources said the Presidents of both the nations had a telephonic conversation and agreed to do more work in combating threats posed by terrorists in Pakistan.
