German diplomats deeply involved with Nazi Holocaust of Jews'
London, Oct. 26 (ANI): German diplomats were deeply involved in carrying out the Holocaust against Jews ordered by the Nazi dictatorship in the early part of the 20th century, a new report has revealed.
Diplomats were actually willing participants in the Nazi campaign against the Jews, the report concludes, despite the German foreign ministry officially stating and maintaining that it was opposed to the Third Reich, the Scotsman reports.
"The German Foreign Ministry collaborated with the Nazis' violent politics and especially assisted in all aspects of the discrimination, deportation, persecution and genocide of the Jews," Eckhart Conze, one of four historians who helped prepare the report, said yesterday.
Former Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer commissioned the report in 2005 while in office, after it became known the department was still publishing positive obituaries about ex-employees who were committed Nazis.
Conze, a history professor at Marburg University, and his colleagues spent four years preparing the 900-page report.
It will officially be handed to Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle on Thursday. (ANI)
