Manmohan Singh inaugurates TWAS at Hyderabad
At the inaugural session Manmohan Singh rewarded some of the scientists with medals for their contribution in various fields. Over 350 scientists from 50 countries were present in the event.
On behalf of the Indian National Science Academy Manmohan Singh awarded the India Science prize to world-renowned statistician C Radhakrishna Rao.
C Radhakrishna Rao was rewarded with the cash prize of Rs 25 lakh and also with a gold medal.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K Rosaiah, Governor E S L Narasimhan, Union Minister of State for Science and Technology Prithviraj Chavan, TWAS president Jacob Palis and others were also present in the inaugural session.
Manmohan Singh will also lay foundation stone for the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) campus at Gachibowli in Hyderabad.
TIFR"s Hyderabad campus is built on a 200 acre site on the Hyderabad Central University premises at Gachibowli.
