Lawyer pleads SC to issue red warrants against Musharraf for extradition to Pak

Lahore, Oct 14 (ANI): A local lawyer has moved an application before Pakistan's Supreme Court Lahore Registry, praying that red warrants for the extradition of former dictator Pervez Musharraf through Interpol be issued so that he can be tried under 14 charges, including that of high treason.

Advocate AK Dogar moved the plea in his already pending petition against Musharraf before the apex court, The Nation reported.

With the main petition, he appended the 14-point charge sheet, which the PML-N has framed against Musharraf for his trial under the High Treason Act.

Earlier on March 24, the court had asked Dogar to add a prayer in his petition for proceeding against Musharraf under Article 6 of the Constitution, as it was missing in the petition.

In his application, Dogar prayed that in the same manner as the Bank of Punjab scam accused Hamesh Khan was brought to the country, Musharraf might also be brought back by issuing of red warrants against him, which would also mobilize international agencies and the international police (Interpol).

The petitioner stated that on October 01, 2010, about 12 years after he (Musharraf) threw out the elected government of Nawaz Sharif, "the respondent has launched a political party and is making statements every day which are intended to destabilise the country and the democratic government."

He also pointed out that the PML-N, the second biggest political party of the country, had now issued a charge-sheet of 14 charges against the APML founder, demanding that he should be brought to the country through Interpol and be tried in accordance with law.

The charge sheet against the former general includes murder of Akbar Bugti, killings of hundreds of students of Lal Masjid, overthrowing an elected government, subversion of the Constitution and putting judges under house arrest and detention. (ANI)
