Eight militants killed in US drone strike in North Waziristan

Peshawar, Oct 11(ANI): At least eight militants were killed in a US drone attack in the tribal belt of North Waziristan in Pakistan.

According to The Daily Times, in the first attack, a drone fired two missiles at a pair of cars in an Afghan refugee camp, killing six people.

An intelligence official said that the camp is located in the Spin Wam area near Mir Ali.

Minutes later, another missile killed two people near the bank of a river located just outside the refugee camp, the officials added.

The identities of the terrorists were not known, but the official claimed said that those killed in the strike were associated with a terrorist group led by Hafiz Gul Bahadur, which regularly attacks NATO troops in Afghanistan,

An unrelenting series of US missile attacks have pounded North Waziristan in the past two month.

According to Pakistani intelligence reports, 14 missile strikes have killed over 65 people since September 2. Many have struck in and around Dattakhel, which has a population of about 40,000 people.

Until now, the highest number of airstrikes in a single month had been the 11 launched in January this year. (ANI)
