NHS hospital trust rejects bedside Bible 'germ' ban in UK

Edinburgh, Oct 3 (ANI): A bedside Bible ban, considered by a National Health Service (NHS) hospital trust that feared they could spread germs, has reportedly been rejected.

According to the Scotsman, a research by Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust had claimed that the Bibles could pose a risk of cross-infection if not cleaned properly.

The trust, however, rejected banning the book in bedside lockers, opting instead to keep copies in holders and protective plastic covers that can be easily cleaned after use.

Jenny Leggott, the trust's director of nursing, said: "We have taken time over the last few weeks to ensure we understand everyone's views on this important subject, demonstrating our respect of all needs and faiths."

On wards for patients with virulent infections, single-use Bibles will be introduced. They will be disposed of after use by each patient, the paper said. (ANI)
