Indian Oil refineries bag three national safety awards

New Delhi, Sep.27 (ANI): Indian Oil's Bongaigaon, Mathura, and Guwahati refineries on Monday received prestigious National Safety Awards from the Ministry of Labour for exemplary safety practices and commitment to industrial safety.

Union Minister of Labour and Employment Mallikarjun Kharge presented the awards at a glittering function held at Vigyan Bhawan here today.

The awards were received by J P Guharay, ED, Mathura Refinery , G Bhanumurthy, ED, Guwahati Refinery and H.C.Viswakarma, ED (Officiating), Bongaingoain Refinery.

Bongaigaon Refinery has won the Safety Awards under both Scheme-I (Lowest average accident frequency rate) and Scheme-II (Longest accident Free Years) for its outstanding performance in 'Industrial Safety' based on 'Lowest Average Frequency Rate' and 'Accident Free Year' for the performance year 2008.

Bongaigaon Refinery has also been awarded recently, the National Safety Award for the 'Lowest Average Frequency Rate' for the fifth consecutive year in a row and the National Safety Award for 'Accident Free Year' for the sixth consecutive year in recognition of its outstanding performance in industrial safety over the period.

Mathura and Guwahati Refineries which were declared Runners-up for the National Safety Awards have always exhibited an intrinsic commitment to the highest level of safety and promotion of clean and green technology. (ANI)
