Larger beneficiaries of National Reconciliation Ordination are judges: Pak Minister
Lahore, Sep 26(ANI): Pakistan Food and Agriculture Minister Nazar Muhammad Gondal has said that the country's judges were also among the larger beneficiaries of the National Reconciliation Ordination (NRO).
Gondal made these remarks while responding to a question on whether the government would remove all NRO beneficiaries from office or would it choose to protect them.
"The larger beneficiaries are judges, why are not they leaving their offices," The Daily Times quoted Gondal, as saying.
He further said that Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani's exhortation to NRO beneficiaries to resign voluntarily from their positions is 'an injustice to them'.
"It is injustice to party colleagues who are holding different public offices after getting relief under the NRO issued by Pervez Musharraf," he added.
Gondal also admitted that "there is tremendous pressure on the government from certain quarters to remove NRO beneficiaries from public office". (ANI)
