Food inflation rises to 15.46 pc; vegetables up

This is the fourth consecutive week that the rate of food prices has risen, although signs of moderation had appeared in Jul and stayed on through the first half of Aug.
Heavy torrential rains in many parts of the nation like Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Assam and Rajasthan have disrupted supplies of staples.
Annually prices of cereals rose 6.75 percent, pulses 4.01 percent, wheat 9.21 percent and rice 5.52 percent, respectively.
Where as milk prices soared 23.41 percent during the week compared to the same period last year, while that of fruits by 10.33 percent.
on an annual basis Vegetables became dearer by 6.84 percent, where as potato and onions became cheaper by 48.56 and 1.97 percent.
