New Delhi, Sep 17: A senior BJP leader Yashwant Sinha resigned as the party"s Punjab in-charge in protest over the choice of Arjun Munda as Jharkhand chief minister on Thursday, Sep 16.

It was Bharatiya Janata Party chairman L K Advani who proposed the name of Mr Sinha as Jharkhand chief ministership. However, this was not accepted by BJP president Nitin Gadkari, who went ahead and installed Mr Munda as chief minister.

Sources said Mr Sinha told party leadership he would not be able to give attention to the Punjab job as he is also chairman of the parliamentary standing committee on finance.

After Gadkari became party president, Mr Sinha had found no place in his newly reconstituted team.
