Ayodhya verdict won't be postponed, says HC

Babri Masjid
Lucknow, Sep 17: The Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court has refused to defer the Sep 24 verdict in the Ayodhya title dispute case on Friday, Sep 17.

The Allahabad High Court bench rejected the two petitions asking for the postponement of the verdict and announced that the verdict would be announced on Sep 24. The High Court also imposed a fine of Rs 10 lakh on the petitioners.

The petitions were filed by Ramesh Chandra Tripathi and a group of eminent citizens of Lucknow. Ramesh Chandra Tripathi filed the petition to defer the verdict in view of reports in the media that the pronouncement might disturb communal harmony and lead to violence. The second petition asked to postpone the verdict keeping in mind the security and prestige of the country for Commonwealth Games.
