Helsinki, Sep 10: The head of Microsoft's Business Division, Stephen Elop has been selected as the new CEO of Nokia, the world's top cellphone maker.

Nokia's present chief, Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo will hand over his duties to Elope on Sep 21, 2010.

Nokia with old management was struggling in the competitive business and left far behind in the competition with rival companies like Apple or Google.

The head of telecoms consultancy said, "Nokia has a communication problem. There is no doubt that Sptephen Elop is a better communicator than Kallasvuo."

Elop, before joining Microsoft, served as the senior executive positions in companies like Juniper Networks and Adobe Systems Inc.
