Pak: 18 Taliban militants killed in bomb blast

Peshawar, Sep 5: A dozen Taliban fighters were killed and several others injured in a roadside bomb blast and an artillery strike in the volatile Kurram tribal region in northwest Pakistan on Saturday, Sep 4, sources said.

According to the sources, a group of militants travelling in a vehicle was targeted with a roadside bomb on the Merandi road in central Kurram Agency, killing 18 Taliban militants.

The Taliban were the targets of the bomb attack and the bomb was planted by anti-Taliban elements in the region, the sources said.

In a separate development, security forces shelled militant positions in Kurram Agency, killing six rebels and injuring 11 more.
