Pak police jailed for turning blind eye to Sialkot teen lynchings
Sialkot, Sept 2 (ANI): A court in Sialkot has jailed five police officers for their failure to stop lynching of two teenage brothers. A police chief is among the accused sent to jail for the August 15 incident.
The BBC quoted officials as saying that the brothers-Mughees Butt, 19, and Muneeb Butt, 15- were mistaken for robbers.
A video of the lynching allegedly shows both teenagers pleading their innocence as the crowd thrashes them with wires and sticks. The footage captures the policemen standing by and watching, rather than stopping the mob.
There has been huge outpouring of outrage in Pakistan over the police apathy. (ANI)
