Nita Ambani to be nominated to EIH board

Mumbai, Sep 1: Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) may nominate its chairman, Mukesh Ambani's wife Nita Ambani to the East India Hotels (EIH) board.

RIL, which bought the 14 percent stake of EIH on Aug 30, suggested Nita Ambani's name to the board as she is closely involved with the company's increased focus on services.

The board directors of EIH had gathered in Mumbai on Tuesday, Aug 31 to discuss appointing RIL nominees on its board and future business plans.

Nita Ambani set up the Dhirubhai Ambani International School at Mumbai in 2003 and recently she joined the board of RIL's joint venture company with IMG and manages the operations of the American sports major's Indian arm which plans to build an academy to train coaches and athletes.

Reliance Industries has joined hands with Oberoi group promoters to spoil a possible takeover of EIH by rival hospitality player ITC by buying 14.12 percent stake for Rs.1,021 crore in the company.
