indian map showed by Google Insights for Search
New Delhi, Aug 23: The search engine giant, Google, changed the controversial Indian map which showed Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) as part of the Pakistan.

On Saturday, Aug 21, the Centre issued a notice to Google for the mistake and asked them to take immediate action on the issue. The notice said that wrongful depiction of Indian map could attract action under Sections 69A and 79 of the IT Act. Google Insights for Search, a tool which shows search volume patterns across specific regions, had shown a map of India as part of Pakistan.

Later on Sunday, Aug 22, Google corrected the map and now it shows entire state of Jammu and Kashmir as part of India.

Earlier in Oct 2009 Google map site for Chinese users showed northeastern Indian state, Arunachal Pradesh, as a part of China.
