Google China map shows Arunachal as part of China
Bangalore, Oct 21: While the Asian giants continue to fight over the disputed region of Arunachal Pradesh, the Internet giant, Google seems to have discovered a middle-path. The Google map site for Chinese users not only shows northeastern Indian state but also parts of Kashmir as part of the communist nation but while map for Indians users shows a different picture.
Contrary to the Chinese Google map, Indian users of the Google map site see Arunachal as part of the country, while the users in other parts of the world see Arunachal Pradesh and Kashmir as a 'disputed regions'.
Clarifying on the disparities in the maps, Google said that this is a standard practice wherein the maps are localized to the local domains of a region and depict that country's official position on the region.
This comes amid the increased tension over the decades old Indo-Sino border conflict.
Apart from the two countries claiming ownership over Arunachal Pradesh, India recently asked China to stop all activities in disputed regions of Kashmir.
