President Patil condoles death of K M Mathew
New Delhi, Aug 1 (ANI): President Pratibha Devisingh Patil on Sunday condoled the death of Malayala Manorama Chief Editor K M Mathew, who breathed his last at his residence in Kottayam today morning.
"We have lost a hardworking, dynamic and visionary journalist who made Malayala Manorama a major Indian language daily," said President Patil.
The funeral procession of the 93-year-old former chairman of Press Trust of India (PTI) will take place in Puthenpally church cemetery here tomorrow.
The veteran editor had also served as president of Indian Newspaper Society, member of the Press Council, founder member of Indian Press Institute and consultant of International Press Institute.
Mathew was the recipient of Padmabushan in 1998, B D Goenka Award and several other prestigious honours for his distinguished career. (ANI)
