Islamabad, July 23(ANI): Former Pakistan Education Minister Lieutenant General (retired) Javed Ashraf Qazi has said that his country has been seeking a peaceful resolution of disputes and normalization of relations with India.

Qazi said this while addressing the concluding session of a three-day workshop here on 'Indian Military's Cold Start Doctrine and its implication for the strategic Stability of South Asia'.

"We are moving away from this ethos and discourse and democratically elected governments of two nations are ready to establish peace and stability in line with the traditions of the great nations of the world," The News quoted him, as saying.

"We are committed to peace and we shall remain open to all such efforts, which allow the region to come close in dealing with common challenges; albeit in the manner and mechanisms through which sustainable peace is attained by self respecting sovereign equals," he added.

He also highlighted that an end to the disputes can improve the relations between the two neighbours.

"In the absence, the most immediate problems could be overtaken with a misplaced belief that disputes can be frozen forever and refusal to make concrete efforts to resolve them in accordance with universally accepted principles continue lack of progress; can only lead to a state of affairs in which disputes not only remain unresolved and as in South Asia's case, but can become a nuclear flash point," he added.
