Taliban militants behead six Afghan policemen in new act of barbarism

Kabul, July 22(ANI): Taliban militants beheaded six Afghan police officers during an assault on government buildings in Baghlan province, the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) said.

The attack took place in Dahanah-ye Ghori, where the Taliban influence has grown significantly in the past two years.

The Taliban favour decapitation as a punishment for those who work with the government, or are accused of spying for Kabul, to create a fear psychosis among its opponents.

"This incident once again demonstrates the brutal, barbaric and senseless acts committed by the Taliban," The Telegraph quoted Colonel Rafael Torres, an ISAF spokesman, as saying.

The ISAF said that several insurgents were also killed as police fought off the attack on a school, clinic and the district governor's building. (ANI)
