Kuala Lumpur, July 22(ANI): Malaysian-Indian Jit Kaur, who has been living on the streets for three years, has had an emotional reunion with her sister-in-law, Anita Kaur, whom she had not seen in more than 25 years.

Jit's story was featured on Malaysian newspaper The Star, which had caught the attention of Anita.

She later contacted the newspaper to help her locate the 63-year-old.

Arrangements were made and a team from The Star and Kechara Soup Kitchen took Anita to look for Jit.

Before the much-anticipated meeting, Anita, who admitted that Jit had been shunned by the family for years, said: "I wish that our encounter will be filled with forgiveness".

"Although I am excited to meet her after 25 years, I hope time has healed our scars and we can look to building a happier future," The Star quoted Anita, as saying.

Jit was thankful for the reunion, but said that it would be hard to adjust to a "normal lifestyle" after living on the streets for so long.

"Thanks to The Star and Kechara, I have met my family, but it is hard for me to just leave," Jit said. (ANI)
