London, July 21 (ANI): A young UK girl who made a Charlie Chaplin tribute video to gather funds for dying kids has been asked to remove the lyrics or pay 1,300 pounds for it.
Bethany Hare, 10, performed Chaplin's song Smile on a film that she paid for from money earned as an extra on ITV1's soap Emmerdale.
Thousands of people paid to watch the video after it was uploaded on to the JustGiving charity website.
But Marco Berrocal, copyright owner of New York-based Bourne Music Publishers, emailed her parents demanding payment.
Chaplin's family backed Bethany, who tried to raise 5,000 pounds for the Martin House Children's Hospice in Wetherby, West Yorks.
The video, which brought in 1,800 pounds, is now silent.
"We are amazed they would go to such extremes to dampen the efforts of such a lovely little girl," The Sun quoted Bethany's mother Yvonne as saying. (ANI)
