Violence in Kashmir is "an internal matter of India," says Krishna
Islamabad, Jul 14 (ANI): Visiting Indian External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna today said that violence in the state of Jammu and Kashmir is "an internal matter of India."
Krishna, who arrived on Wednesday on a three-day visit, was reacting to reported comments of his Pakistani counterpart Shah Mahmood Qureshi, who said that he would raise the issue of alleged human rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir during talks with the Indian External Affairs Minister on Thursday.
"India has always taken a consistent position and whatever is happening in Kashmir is an internal matter of India," he told reporters at Hotel Serena in Islamabad.
"We are answerable to many agencies in our country (India) about human rights and we are not answerable to any other country on human rights, Krishna added.
Commenting on the issues that would come up during the talks with Qureshi, he said: "There is no fixed agenda what is to be discussed and what not to be discussed. India can place all its concerns and Pakistan can also place all its concerns." (ANI)
