At least 107 killed in China torrential rains

New Delhi, July 14 (ANI): At least 107 people have been killed and 59 are missing following torrential rains and severe flooding in ten provinces along the Yangtze River in China.

According to the Chinese Civil Affairs Ministry in Beijing, the rain-triggered floods have affected some 29 million people and 997,000 have been evacuated.

It also said that the direct economic loss had reached 19.75 billion yuan, while a total of 93,000 houses and 252,800 hectares of crops have been destroyed.

The China Meteorological Administration has forecast that rainstorms would continue to batter the provinces of Guizhou, Sichuan, Hubei, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui over the next three days, the Xinhua news agency reports.

Southern Qinghai, eastern Inner Mongolia, eastern Liaoning, central Gansu and western Yunnan are also expected to receive heavy rain.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health said that the regions had not reported any epidemic or public health emergency. (ANI)
