Karachi, July 11 (ANI): In an incident which reveals the deplorable plight of females in Pakistan, a woman, who was declared a 'Kari' by her husband, was publicly thrashed and threatened to be killed by her brother and spouse in Larkana, Sindh.

According to reports, Hafeezan Bhutto, 30, was forcibly taken into a vehicle by her husband Hajjan Bhutto and brother Zahid Bhutto, who is a police constable, with the intention to kill her.

However, Hafeezan showed enough courage to jump out of the vehicle and started screaming for help following which several local residents gathered near the Rice Canal area.

Within a few minutes, police officials also arrived on the spot but the two men continued to drag Hafeezan by her hair towards the canal.

They tried to throw her into the canal, but was saved by police officials, The Dawn reports.

Both Hafeezan's husband and brother have been taken into custody, and the police have registered an FIR against them and other family members.

Later, Hafeezan appealed to the police officials to allow her to live in Darul Aman, fearing that her husband might attempt to kill her again.

"I was reluctant to marry Hajjan Bhutto. I would prefer to go to Darul Aman than to my parents' or husband's place because I fear I would be killed," she said. (ANI)
