Restrictions reimposed in Srinagar

Srinagar, Jul 11: Strict restrictions had to be reimposed in a few localities of Srinagar on Sunday, Jul 11 though the shutdown called by separatists paralysed life in Kashmir valley.

Restrictions were reimposed one day after the long-curfew-withdrawal in the Old City and uptown Maisuma and Batmallo areas. The Old City was again deployed by heavy police and paramilitary reinforcements in order to enforce the restrictions on Jul 11 early morning.

Roads were blocked with barricades and wire coils. Shops were shut and vehicles remained off the roads. Restrictions were imposed in the two south Kashmir towns of Pulwama and Kakpore.

Mohammad Sayed Khan, special commissioner ofBaramulla informed that the curfew was relaxed on Sunday, Jul 11 in Sopore town till 11 am to enable people to purchase essential commodities. But the mobs indulged in stone-pelting in the market when curfew was relaxed.

The protest shutdown called by the hardline Hurriyat Conferece group led by Syed Ali Geelani also affected the normal life apart from the restrictions in Srinagar.
