Omar Abdullah ensures amicable resolution to 'News X' controversy
New Delhi, July 11 (ANI): Over reports from Jammu and Kashmir of a case being filed against English channel 'News X' for waging war against the State, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has assured CNN-IBN editor-in-chief and Guild President Rajdeep Sardesai that he would intervene and ensure that the matter is settled amicably and no action of this kind is taken against an individual journalist or channel.
The nature of the FIR is clearly disproportionate to the crime and seems designed to only intimidate the media.
The channel has apologized for what is being seen as a human error in putting out wrong information.
The guild has requested the Omar Abdullah Government to have the case withdrawn since an apology has been issued. (ANI)
