Bangalore, Jul 9: Popular video sharing website, Youtube, has presented the netizens of the world an opportunity to present a snapshot of their lives at the prestigious Sundance Film Festival 2011.
The ambitious 'Life in a Day" project aims at documenting a single day on planet earth through the lives of the people.
The day has been set and everybody has been invited to record a snapshot of their lives and upload it on YouTube"s Life in a Day channel on Jul 24, 2010.
The director Kevin McDonald will then go through all the footage to stitch together a story that will collectively reflect life on the planet earth.
There are no restrictions on what the people could send. The Oscar-winning director has said that he wants to see footage showing everything from everyday mundane activities to significant events and incidents.
McDonald is not the only big name associated with the movie as it comes with legendary Ridley Scott, associated with movies like Black Hawk Down and Gladiator, is the producer.
Now, if you are hoping to make some money off the footage you submit, think again because Youtube has made it clear that even if the your video is selected for the movie there will be no monetary transactions what so ever.
However, if your footage makes it into the final cut, you"ll be credited as a co-director. And if the lady luck smiles on you, you could be among the select twenty who will be attending the premiere.
Keeping aside money and credits, the idea is refreshingly original and the expectations on the output of such an inclusive project are soaring high.
